Meat Raffle supports local athletes heading to World Championships

Posted

The Brew’s Pub hosted a meat raffle on Saturday to support the Peterson sisters as they prepare to represent the USA at the 10th Annual World Championships for Pankration Martial Arts in Romania.

The sisters, who previously won multiple gold medals in Greece, aim to bring home more medals from this upcoming competition.

The Peterson family organized the raffle, offering a selection of meats from Charlie’s Northwoods Market. Patrons filled the pub to support the cause, with all proceeds going toward the sisters’ travel and accommodation expenses.

John “Ski” Sklepinski from Iron River won the first raffle, taking home New York steaks, while Milwaukee’s Luke Lipert won the second raffle, receiving pork tenderloin, squash and breads. Nicole Peterson, one of the competitors, was present to thank supporters, while her sister Haley was away at college.
