Posted

The towns of Three Lakes, St. Germain and Lincoln saw some contests on the ballot for April 7’s spring election.

Electors in the Town of Three Lakes had four candidates to choose from to fill two seats, including two incumbents. Existing town board member Ed Cottingham who has served as a supervisor for five years, lost his seat to longtime resident Kevin Meyer, while Ella Baltus, serving her second term on Three Lakes Town Board, retained her seat.

With two open seats and four names on the ballot, the two candidates who earned the most votes were elected to the town board. Meyer earned 475 votes and Baltus, 378, while newcomer Leah Rehberg received 288 and Cottingham, 249.

For Three Lakes School Board, Stacey Klein was unopposed, earning 634 votes to retain her seat.

St. Germain

In the Town of St. Germain, two write-ins battled it out for the Supervisor 2 position with Brian Cooper ultimately defeating former Supervisor Tom Christensen 378-235.

Cooper had initially filed non-candidacy paperwork for the seat, but after nobody put their hat in the ring to fill the position decided to run as a registered write-in. Christensen also launched his bid as a registered write-in.

Patric Niggemeier, incumbent, saw no contest to retain his seat as Supervisor 1.

Other races

In Lincoln, longtime Supervisor Bruce Richter held onto his spot against last-minute write-in candidate Kira Oas with a vote of 501-68. Ken Fox uncontestedly held his Supervisor 2 position.

In Phelps, Supervisor Jeremy Ryan retained his seat, while an opening created after Dave Selby filed for non-candidacy in December was filled by write-in candidate Mary Ann Holcomb (known as “Mak”).

For the Phelps School Board, clerk Kim Johnson and board member Rick Brown were uncontested and retained their positions.

Cloverland incumbents Mildred Ritzer, Supervisor 3, and Joseph Spitz, Supervisor 4, retained their seats unopposed.

In Conover, current supervisors 3 and 4, Bill Hogenmiller and Sean Lewis, respectively, held their seats with no contest.

Taking the top two votes in Lac du Flambeau were Stephanie Greeneway (533) and Dennis K. Pearson (520) to fill the open supervisor positions, defeating Joseph G. Wildcat Sr. (368) and Stephanie Minisinookwe Thompson (345).

All three board positions for Northland Pines School District were unopposed, with Chris Petreikis retaining his seat for Area A, City of Eagle River, Towns of Cloverland, Lincoln, Washington; Jennifer Payne for Area B, Town of Conover; and Chelsea Romaker for Area E, Towns of St. Germain and Newbold.
