Mykala Felesena Northland Pines volleyball

Posted

Northland Pines senior Mykala Felesena is just a one-sport athlete in her final year of high school, but she dipped into basketball and track in previous years.
She went into her senior year of volleyball with the intention to play hard but to have fun. Outside of sports, Felesena loves anything to do with art.

Here is more on the Northland Pines senior:

Do you have a nickname that your friends or family call you?
“A nickname that people call me is Myk. I received this at one of my old schools, and it has just kind of stuck with me as I’ve moved.”

Do you do any other sport besides volleyball?
“I will not be playing any other sports besides volleyball this year, but I have played basketball and track in previous years. I just want to work on school and get ready for college.”

Is there a personal goal you had on the court this year?
“I had a personal goal of just playing hard but also having fun. I wanted to win very badly, but I kept telling myself that this is a small part of my life that won’t matter in a few years.”

What other hobbies do you have outside of sports?

“I love to do art in any way, such as painting, baking, or sculpting. It’s very relaxing to do art, in my opinion.”

Favorite vacation spot that you’ve been to?
“Pittsburgh, Penn., because I went there with my grandparents, and it was awesome. I got to hang out with some of my family who live there, but also just sightsee. Pittsburgh is a pretty cool place to travel to.”

Do you have a pre-match ritual that helps you before your games?
“I like to listen to music and also help other girls with their hair. I am often quiet before games, and that is because I am just thinking about the game and thinking about how and what I need to do to perform well.”

Do you have any plans for after high school? College?
“ I am planning on attending college for Elementary Education as of now. I enjoy working with kids, so I will definitely do something that involves helping children in some way. I won’t be playing a sport in college, but I will always remember the great times I had in high school.”
