Paige Brafford, Three Lakes-Phelps girls basketball

Posted

Paige Brafford is one of 10 seniors on the Three Lakes-Phelps girls basketball team this year. She is a basketball lover, who has focused mainly on basketball for most of her life. Outside of playing basketball, Brafford has hobbies such as music, painting and enjoying the North Woods outdoors.

Here is more on the Three Lakes senior:

Do you have a nickname that your friends or family call you?
“My friends all call me Paggy. My good friend from camp started calling me in when she spelled my name wrong on her phone. Over the summer, we were hanging out, and my friend Libby, then my other friends, caught on to it. Other than that, my dad calls me Waiger.”

Do you do other sports besides basketball?

“I’ve been all in on basketball for most of my life, so nothing worth mentioning.”

Is there a personal goal you have on the court this year?
“I would love to be averaging a double-double. As the season goes on, that might change. I also just want to be a good role model for the younger players and set an example for what a good teammate should look like.”

What other hobbies do you have outside of sports?
“I love music, painting and being outdoors. Music is a huge part of my life, especially before games. I enjoy painting as well but haven’t made the time for it as much. I spend my summers at camp, so if summer camp is considered a hobby, that would be my number one.”

Favorite vacation spot that you’ve been to?
“I love the northwoods, and it used to be a vacation spot for me. It’s still my favorite place to spend my time. I also enjoyed going to Italy with my Latin class during my freshman year.”

Do you have a pregame ritual that helps you before your games?
“I have a lot of little things I do throughout the day, but I eat a Mint Cliff bar two hours before the game, I drink a blue Gatorade an hour before, and I always listen to “No Surprises” by Radiohead on the bus or in the locker room.”

Do you have any plans for after high school? Do you want to play a sport in college?

“I’m planning to go to college next year. I don’t know where in going yet, but I’m keeping my options open. I’m not planning on playing basketball in college.”
