Nolan Waltz has been a top competitor in varsity cross country and track and field since he entered as a freshman in high school. He is a big runner throughout the year but also sometimes plays basketball in the winter and will run track in the spring to stay in shape. Outside of running, Waltz enjoys fishing, playing disc golf and camping. Here is more on the Three Lakes senior:
Do you have a nickname that your friends or family call you?
No nicknames
Do you participate in any other sports besides cross country?
“I also play basketball sometimes, and I run track. Both are great ways to stay in shape. I love to be outside and run, and that is why I do track in the spring.”
Do you have a personal goal you have on the course this year?
“This year, I would really like to improve my times and win state. It is always good to better yourself, and last year I got second at state, so I am hoping to improve this year.”
What other hobbies do you have outside of sports?
“Besides running, I like to fish, play disc golf, go camping and make things. Mostly, I enjoy being outdoors.”
Favorite vacation spot you’ve been to?
Do you have a pre-race ritual that helps you before your meets?
“I always eat pasta the night before a meet. It is important to get lots of carbs in the night before a race.”
Do you have any plans for after high school? College?
“After high school, I plan to attend a college and major in physics or some sort of engineering program. I would like to run in college as well. As of right now, I have not selected anywhere to go after high school.”
