Ethan Miller, Northland Pines cross country, basketball, baseball

Posted

Northland Pines senior Ethan Miller is another three-sport athlete for the Eagles, which keeps him busy all year long. Whenever he gets the chance, he enjoys grabbing a fishing pole, duck hunting and spending as much time outside as he can. His favorite vacation spot he remembers is Pittsburgh, where he explored plenty of sights and museums, along with watching a Pittsburgh Pirates game at PNC Park. Here is more on the Northland Pines senior:

Do you have a nickname that your friends or family call you?
“Angel is a nickname that I have, especially during the basketball season. It references Angel Reese because I could not make a layup my freshman or sophomore year.”

Do you participate in any other sports besides cross country?

“I play basketball in the winter and baseball in the spring. I play these sports as well because I enjoy the competitiveness of the sports and the camaraderie that goes with it.”

Did you have a personal goal for the course this year?
“My personal goal for the year is to run a sub-17:00 5k and make it back to the state meet. I want to make it back to the state meet because it was incredibly fun and a great accomplishment, and I believe my goal time will help me get back to Wisconsin Rapids.”

What other hobbies do you have outside of sports?
“I like fishing, duck hunting and spending lots of time outside.”

Favorite vacation spot that you’ve been to?
“My favorite vacation spot was going to Pittsburgh and seeing all of the different museums and sights, along with watching the Pirates play.”

Do you have a pre-race ritual that helps you before your races?
“I don’t have a pre-race ritual per se, but every race we always walk the course to get familiar with it. We also always do the same warm-up stretches every day, so we keep things consistent.”

Do you have any plans for after high school? College?

“I plan on going to college for mechanical engineering, but I haven’t decided on a school. If I get the opportunity to play a sport and the price is right, along with that college having my major, then I will pursue it.”
