The Northland Pines boys hockey team kicked the season off with high hopes, but couldn’t find their scoring touch in the season-opening 3-0 loss to D.C. Everest last Thursday.
Despite the loss, the Eagles had plenty of opportunities, as they outshot the Evergreens
36-22.
“It’s always disappointing taking a loss, but overall, I was happy with our boys,” stated new Pines head coach Zach Otto. “Everest is a well-coached team with good depth. We had many opportunities to put the puck in the net and it just didn’t work out.”
After the two sides skated to a scoreless first period, Everest got on the board at 4:58 of period two. They scored again at 8:56 and the 2-0 lead held into the third period.
