With the approaching completion of the 1,300-acre Border Lakes Forest Legacy project in the town of Land O’ Lakes, Northwoods Alliance invites the public to an informative program citing project details and public benefits.
This public session will be held Thursday, July 30, at 7 p.m. at the Ottawa National Forest Visitors Center in Watersmeet, Mich. as part of Ottawa’s Thursday evening programs. All are invited to attend.
The Border Lakes Forest will assure foot based public access and showcases the popular Forest Lakes segment of the Wilderness Lakes bike trail, a ride under the canopy of towering hardwoods. The project has two distinct blocks and fronts on county roads S and B, as well as Forest Lake Road. The south block hosts the beginning of the Tamarack Creek; a Wisconsin River tributary, and the north part is in the Lake Superior watershed.
“We are excited to see the Border Lakes Forest project nearing finish, and we welcome questions around this great project or any of our area conservation efforts,” said presenter Joe Hovel. “With the recent addition to the Upper Wisconsin River Legacy Forest, the ever-special Wildcat Falls and Headwaters Cedar Community Forests, and the unveiling of the Hilltop Trail Lakes Wild Forest project, we have a lot of interesting information to share.”
The Ottawa National Forest and Northwoods Alliance Inc. are equal opportunity providers.
