“A Twist of Christmas Jazz” featuring the Northwoods Jazz Group will highlight the Psalm 150 Project at Union Congregational Church in Three Lakes on Thursday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m.
“We are so excited and thrilled to welcome back this phenomenal group of musicians,” said Valeri Snedden, one of the organizers. “You heard that they rocked the Sanctuary with the music of Duke Ellington and Gospel standards in August. If you missed them, this is your chance to hear them play all your Christmas favorites and holiday classics with just that right twist of jazz.”
The Northwoods Jazz Group began in 2021 under the leadership of Larry Chamberlain with the mission to foster an interest in big-band jazz. Composed of musicians from the Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin, the group features trumpets, trombones, saxophones, piano, bass, drums and a female vocalist.
The Psalm 150 Project is an outreach ministry of Union that seeks to provide a venue for local musicians to praise God in the sanctuary with a variety of musical instruments, dance and genres.
“We are hopeful that the community will rally around these events and support us by attending these programs going forward” stated Diane Geis, Council Member. There is no charge for admission, but a free-will offering will be taken to help defray expenses.
Light refreshments will be served.
