The Northwoods (Eagle River) Wisconsin American Legion baseball team picked up its first win of the season in a 2-0 victory over Minocqua Post 89 June 11 in Minocqua.
Another game was canceled earlier in the week as the team was supposed to host Crandon June 10 in Eagle River, but the game was never played.
In a great pitching performance, the Eagle River squad backed their thrower to keep Minocqua off the board.
“The team played very well and we had very good pitching,” said Northwoods manager Dusin Hoeft after the win.
Northwoods continued its early-season schedule with a scheduled contest at Tomahawk early this week before hosting Ironwood this Thursday, June 19, at 6 p.m. at the Northland Pines varsity baseball field. Northwoods will be on the road again next Monday, June 23, for a tilt at Chequamegon at 6 p.m.
