Registration now open for 39th Annual Women on Snow event

Posted

The 39th annual Women on Snow weekend will be held Jan. 23-26, 2025, on Eagle River area trails, with the Women on Snow Tour 2025 to follow on Jan. 26-Jan. 29.

Registration is now open for participants and can be accessed through the link on Facebook @WomenonSnow or visit womenonsnow.org.

This women-only snowmobile event, which began in Eagle River in 1986, will include a weekend of riding based out of historic Eagle Waters Resort, the host location for the event.

Check-in begins on Thursday evening. About 120 women will then explore the scenic snowmobile trails through Vilas and surrounding counties and visit many local businesses on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 24-25.

Sandy Voight, a WOS Board member, said, “It is an enjoyable time to get out and ride the Northwoods trails. A weekend with girls who love the sport of snowmobiling. There is time for meeting old and new friends, relaxing and socializing.”

The trail rides are led by the Women on Snow board of directors and begin Friday morning and end on Saturday evening. Lunch and dinner, along with rest stops, are made at North Woods establishments along the way. Riders will ride about 100 miles a day.

The Saturday night banquet, a tradition since the first Women on Snow event, is always full of prizes and surprises. The theme for 2025 is Beach Party. Costumes are encouraged, but not required.

Another Women on Snow tradition is wearing the event hat with year bars signifying the years each participant attended past Women on Snow events. New to Women on Snow riders will receive their event hat during the banquet ceremony.

The Women on Snow Tour riders will leave Eagle Waters Resort on Sunday morning. The

tour is for a smaller group with riders who have previously ridden with Women on Snow and enjoy more aggressive riding than done on the weekend.

This year, the group will ride to a destination in Wisconsin or Michigan, where they will stay on Sunday night.

The group will ride again on Monday and Tuesday to their next destinations and will return to Eagle Waters Resort on Wednesday. Meal and rest stops are made during the daily rides. During the tour, riders will carry their own provisions on their snowmobiles, except for oil and a small bag with medications, which can be put in the support vehicle. Women on Snow weekend prices include all lodging, lunch and dinner meals on Friday and Saturday, entertainment and gas for the snowmobiles.

The price for the weekend is $385 per person. Included in the tour package of $400 per person are lodging, meals, and gas. Refreshments, oil, and incidentals along the trail are not included.
