Posted

The Eagle River Area Fire Department responded to a reported snowmobile crash on Trail 7 on Pincherry Lake Road near Muskellunge Creek in the Town of Cloverland around 8 p.m. on Feb. 10.

According to a press release issued by the department, personnel utilized their UTV to transport medical personnel from the ambulance to the crash site. The crews found a single snowmobile crash with one operator and assisted in treating and preparing the patient for transport.

“Due to the nature and severity of the injuries, a medical evacuation helicopter was requested to transport the patient to a higher level of care,” the release said. “The Eagle River Area Fire Department temporarily shut down Highway 70 in both directions at Wilderness Trail to establish a landing zone. The roadway was closed for approximately 15 minutes while emergency personnel secured the scene and coordinated patient care and air medical operations.”

The patient was transferred to the flight crew for transport to Wausau. No additional injuries were reported.

Assisting the department on scene were medical personnel from Aspirus Eagle River Hospital, the Vilas County Sheriff’s Office, and the Air Medevac from Aspirus.

The department thanked the public for their patience and cooperation during the temporary road closure. Snowmobile operators are reminded to ride responsibly, remain on marked trails, and adjust speed according to conditions.
