Sandra “Sandy” Naidu Berner

Sandra Naidu Berner, 92, passed away at Milestone Senior Living center on Sept. 11, 2026.

Sandy was born Aug. 18, 1934, in Waukegan, IL. She graduated from Waukegan Township High School and went on to attend Carrol College in Waukesha, WI, where she met her husband, Tom Berner. They married in 1955 and made Mil- waukee home while raising three children, Randy, Sherry, and Jody.

In 1976, they bought the White Eagle Motel in Eagle River and operated for several years. After selling the motel they bought and operated Seifert's Laundromat in Eagle River until retiring to a home on Cranberry Lake.

While owning the motel, Sandy and Tom developed a true love of snowmobiling and were active members of the Sno-Eagles snowmobile club participating in club rides, fund- raising events, and leadership positions. She started riding with an amazing group of women who named themselves the Flying Femmes. Through many hours of adventures, camaraderie and determination they started promoting women's snowmobiling and hosted a women's weekend ride in 1986, and the group was now known as Women on Snow. Women on Snow are still going strong today having celebrated 40 years of rides. A wonderful tribute for the remaining founders was hosted at the 2026 Saturday banquet.

When Tom passed in 1991, Sandy made a decision to "keep on living" and she sure did. Sandy was determined to be strong and self-sufficient and regularly attended senior exercise class at the Northland Pines Wellness center. Tom and Sandy had begun wintering in Gulf Shores; Alabama and she continued to winter there for many years after his death. She loved to golf and was an active Wisconsin Snowbird Club member.

A big thank you to the staff at Milestone Senior Living. Aspirus Eagle River Hospital and Aspirus Hospice for the wonderful care she received.

Sandy is survived by her children, Randy (Sheryl) Berner, Sherry Berner, and Jody (James) Runte. She is also survived by her grandson, Christopher (Bridget) Berner; great-grandchildren, Camron, and Madelyn Berner. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Sandy is predeceased by her parents; and her husband, Tom Berner.

Per Sandy's wishes there will be no services. She will be interred next to her husband at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee at a later date.
