Senior championship at Eagle River GC sees 49 competitors

An Eagle River senior golf championship tournament at Eagle River Golf Course had nearly 50 players in what was also a fundraising event for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

The event had three men’s divisions and one women’s division, with 39 and 10 players in each, respectively.

Rick Campbell was the overall gross champion in the 55-64 men’s flight with his score of 80. With net scores, Jim Potter topped the flight with a 69 net score. Rob Wulf finished in second place with a score of 70 and Jim Glass took third with a 72 net score.

In the next flight of 65-74, Dave Kraft was the overall gross champion by one stroke with an 84. Paul Ullmann was the top overall net score with a 71, while John Gustavson and Patrick Zingler took second and third, respectively, with 72 and 74 net scores.

The third and final flight in the men’s division was the 75-plus division. Al Sabrowsky topped the field of 11 in the flight with an 82 on the day. Dick Hansen had the best net score with a 70, while Bill Kuhn and Bret Ewer finished the day with a net 72, which was good for second and third.

In the women’s division, 10 golfers battled for the top overall score and top-three finishes in the net scoring as well. Katie Rheinschmidt won the top gross honors by shooting an 87. That won the event by three strokes. In net scoring, Shannon Krause fired a 73 after shooting a gross score of 108. Deb Cyrtmus and Leslie Kunde finished second and third, with both shooting a net 74.
