Mrs. Sharon Dorell Hughes, age 85, passed peacefully at home on November 10, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
 
Born on September 23, 1940, she lived a beautiful life filled with compassion, laughter, and devotion to family. After her upbringing in Phelps, WI. She moved to the Chicagoland area where she and her beloved husband built a lifetime of love and memories. Just recently they made their home in Ashland City, Tennessee. 
 
Sharon was the cherished wife of William C. Hughes of Tennessee, and the devoted mother of four children, William M. (Shannon) Hughes  of Michigan, David J. Hughes of Illinois, Marie L. Hughes of Michigan, and Kimberly M. Hughes (Erick T, McFarland) of Tennessee. She was a proud grandmother to 10 grandchildren and a loving relative to numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Lucas and Pearl M. Lucas, and her brother, Frank Lucas Jr. 
 
Sharon’s life was marked by a deep love for her family. She encouraged, supported, and uplifted those she loved with unwavering devotion. She and William shared a passion for travel, exploring the world together—including all 50 states. Sharon had a gift for storytelling; recounting her trips with humor, detail, and a warm sense of connection to every person she met along the way. Her curiosity was boundless, her conversations unforgettable, and her laughter—especially with her siblings—was a joyful sound that will be dearly missed. 
 
She leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and cherished memories. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her. 
 
Her services will be held on Wednesday, November 19th at Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home located at 304 E Division St, Eagle River, WI 54521. Visitation begins at 1pm with the services held at 2 pm. A processional will leave immediately following to Phelps Cemetery. Flowers may be delivered up until noon on the 19th. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Sharon’s favorite charity, St. Jude, can also be placed in her honor.
