The St. Germain Community Church Thrift Store recently presented a $1,000 check to Sunshine for Humanity, an emergency and temporary shelter.
Established by Debbie Johnson in 2008, Sunshine’s mission is to aid in the improvement of human lives and to achieve health and well-being for the disadvantaged, with an emphasis on children.
Sunshine House has a goal to assist individuals in obtaining jobs, saving money, searching for affordable housing, and finding stability.
Nicknamed Feet Off the Street, the facility started in 2017. Sunshine For Humanity has established services to assist the demand for local support, with an emphasis on homelessness in our community and compassion for our neighbors in need.

Sunshine for Humanity has a free-will store and small food pantry — all are welcome and items are free of charge. They are open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. until noon.
The thrift store chooses a local program each month to sponsor with customer donations received from a jar they place on the counter. Store hours are Monday and Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
