Two Pines girls players land on all-GNC basketball teams

Posted

It’s that time of year again when conferences around the state release the all-conference teams for individual performances from the season. Up in the North Woods, Northland Pines juniors Natalie Kohn and Ryley Darr each got tabbed as honorable mention honorees on the Great Northern Conference all-conference team.

The Northland Pines Lady Eagles finished the GNC season at 3-11 and were dealt a handful of one, two, or three-possession losses throughout the 14-game conference slate.

Darr was also an honorable mention selection as a sophomore last season.
As a team, the Eagles averaged just under 41 points per game, while Darr led the team in scoring at 11 points per game and Kohn was third with 9.5 points per contest. Both juniors averaged over 10 points per game throughout the full season as well.

While there were some notable scorers in the GNC in girls’ basketball, Darr tied for sixth in scoring for conference games. She scored 143 points in 13 games, which ranked sixth in the GNC. Darr finished the season shooting at 34% from the floor and 27% from 3-point distance, but also averaged nearly six rebounds, 1.5 assists and just over two steals per game in GNC play.

Kohn finished 11th in the conference with her scoring average. She finished the GNC season with 105 points. Like Darr, she did a little bit of everything on both ends of the floor. Her shooting ended with 25% from the field on 156 attempts, with many of her shots coming from inside the 3-point line. Kohn got into the paint and rebounded with the best in the conference, finishing sixth at 6.5 rebounds per game. The junior also ranked fourth in steals with 3.5 takeaways per game.

Both players will likely return to the Northland Pines program for their senior year and once again lead the charge on and off the court.
