Vilas board to decide on Riverside Park sale at Jan. 27 meeting

Posted

The Vilas County Board of Supervisors is expected to take action on the possible authorization of the sale of Riverside Park at its upcoming meeting Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 9 a.m. at Vilas County Courthouse.

Resolution 2026 would not only authorize the sale of the property, but also allow the county to use funds from the General Fund for Phase Two of the park’s development at a cost of $634,739. That amount would ultimately be repaid using the sales proceeds of the parcels.

The resolution proposes three options for the sale of the 10 parcels of the Riverside Park plat: sell parcels 1-10 undeveloped to one buyer; develop the infrastructure and sell all 10 parcels to one buyer; or develop the infrastructure and sell the 10 parcels to multiple buyers.

The Vilas County Forestry, Recreation and Land Committee recommends the first option be pursued first with a minimum bid approved by the Finance and Budget Committee. The land would be listed for sale on the Wisconsin Surplus Auction website as one parcel.

Vilas County property owners who would like to submit comments for or against the sale can find a list of supervisors at vilascountywi.gov under the Departments tab by clicking “board members” on the dropdown menu or contact Chairman Burkett directly at 715-891-1501 or jerry@burkettrealty.com.
