Posted

Vilas County will be the focus of Discover Wisconsin’s newest episode set to begin streaming this Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Host Andrew Boehlke will take an unforgettable winter adventure during “Vilas County — Wisconsin’s Snowmobile Wonderland.” World-renowned as a snowmobiling destination and known for its vast network of groomed trails and stunning landscapes, the episode highlights the unique charm and welcoming communities of St. Germain, Land O’ Lakes, Sayner/Star Lake/Cloverland, and Eagle River.

“I had an amazing time filming in Vilas County and learning about the origins of snowmobiling. It was such a treat meeting and filming with the snowmobile clubs in the communities,” Boehlke said. “It’s remarkable that the modern snowmobile was invented by Carl Eliason in Sayner, and I learned so much about him and his legacy! If you are into snowmobiling, outdoor recreation, and history, I can’t recommend this episode on Vilas County enough.”

The episode begins in St. Germain, where Discover Wisconsin was born, showcasing trails maintained by the dedicated Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club that connect riders to frozen lakes, resorts, and local favorites. It then moves to Sayner, the birthplace of the modern snowmobile, featuring landmarks like Eliason Hardware, home to one of the original motor toboggans, and trails kept pristine by the Barnstormers Snowmobile Club.

In Land O’ Lakes, viewers experience a blend of scenic trails and small-town warmth, with stops at Bent’s Camp, Twilight Supper Club, and Big Z’s Lounge. Here, the Frosty Snowmobile Club helps link trails to local businesses.

The journey concludes in Eagle River, the Snowmobile Capital of the World, where trails connect lakes, forests, and downtown, complemented by iconic attractions such as the Ice Castle, the World Championship Snowmobile Derby, and the World Snowmobile Headquarters. The Sno-Eagles Snowmobile Club ensures this trail system remains world-class.

Together, these communities and their extensive trail networks showcase Vilas County as a premier winter destination for snowmobile enthusiasts of every skill level. You can stream the exclusive early debut on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 4 p.m., available through discoverwisconsin.com and YouTube.

The episode will air on Nov. 15 and 16 at varying times across local affiliates of the Discover Wisconsin Regional Television Network.

The episode will reach the show’s broadcast network of viewers across the upper Great Lakes region, including Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Upper Michigan. For more information on the broadcast schedule, visit discoverwisconsin.com.
