Zaugg-Siergiej set to return for third Eagle River hockey camp

Posted

Jinelle Zaugg-Siergiej is set to return for the third Crazy 8s hockey camp in Eagle River next week, starting on Monday, Aug. 10, and running through Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Even though this is the third time Zaugg-Siergiej has been in Eagle River, she founded the Crazy 8s camp almost 20 years ago.

Anyone interested in the camp still has time to register, as online registration is still open until the camp starts.

Camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. all three days in both the 2017-’19 DOB and 2013-’16 DOB age groups.

Several familiar faces will again help run the camp, including former Northland

Pines players Jeff Carr and Michael Siergie.

Camp participants can expect to learn and sharpen skills like skating, puck control,
winning the puck, body positioning, shooting and scoring, plus much more. Off-ice work will also be a key component.

Among her many accomplishments, Zaugg-Siergiejj captured a silver medal with the
U.S. Women’s hockey team in the 2010 Winter Olympics, played on the

boys team at Northland Pines and won two national championships with the Wisconsin Badgers. She is also an assistant coach for the St. Cloud State Women’s Hockey program.

Zaugg-Siergiej will also be back in Eagle River to be inducted into the Eagle River/Northland Pines athletic hall of fame later this month.
