One of the most decorated Northland Pines girls hockey players, Jinelle Zaugg-Siergiej, is set to return to the Eagle River area next week for the Crazy Eights hockey camp, Monday, Aug. 11, through Wednesday, Aug. 13.
Anyone interested in signing up has until Monday, Aug. 11, which is the day the camp starts.
“We want kids that come to camp to leave with a love for hockey, a work ethic that loves the process of becoming a better player and to inspire tradition one player at a time,” said Zaugg-Siergiej.
As of July 31, roughly 65 athletes aged 6-12 have signed up for the 2025 camp.
Several familiar faces will assist in the camp, including former Northland Pines players Jeff Carr and Michael Siergiej.
“Jeff Carr, Michael, and I want to do this camp to give back to the ERRA,” Zaugg-Siergiej also stated. “We are forever grateful for the hockey community in Eagle River that gave us the opportunity to play a sport we grew to love and that gave us experiences, memories and friends that will last a lifetime.”
Participants can expect to learn and sharpen skills such as skating, puck control, winning the puck, body positioning, shooting, and scoring, plus much more.
Among her many accomplishments, Zaugg-Siergiej captured a silver medal with the U.S. Women’s hockey team in the 2010 Winter Olympics, played on the boys team at Northland Pines and won two national championships with the Wisconsin Badgers.
She is currently the associate head coach of the St. Cloud State women’s hockey team.
