The Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra (CWSO) is returning to the Northland Pines High School auditorium on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 4 p.m.
Hosted by the Headwaters Council for the Performing Arts (HCPA), these CWSO players coming to Eagle River consist of musicians from the central Wisconsin region. They hold an array of occupations; many are music educators, university professors, students and full-time professional musicians. The CWSO’s mission is to enhance, engage and educate through the power and performance of live music. Their vision is to be a front-runner in artistic leadership, community connections and educational partnerships and to promote musical arts and their cultural value to all communities.
The CWSO, led by conductor Andy Moran, will feature Lexie Lakmann’s vocals and the orchestra playing Christmas classics and holiday pops, including “Winter Wonderland,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “Let It Go” from “Frozen.” The orchestra, based in Stevens Point, will include musicians from central Wisconsin.
HCPA will have other holiday activities that day, including the high school’s own Madrigal Singers. Orchestra members with their instruments, will mingle with the audience during intermission. Concert attendees are invited to stay for the post-concert reception and a “possible” visit from Santa. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras...just in case!
Continuing its tradition of offering seasonal raffle baskets, HCPA’s December theme is Home for the Holidays.” The baskets will feature holiday items, gift certificates and decorative items. Tickets for the raffle are one for $5 or five for $20.
