The Senior Spotlight series will highlight the senior athletes in the area around the communities of Eagle River, Three Lakes, and Phelps. This week, Cody Vojta is in the spotlight as a member of the Northland Pines soccer team and the leading scorer for the Eagles.
He has played soccer since he can remember and wants to continue to play in college, or play college football, depending on where he ends up attending school. Here is more on the Pines senior:
How long have you played soccer? What made you play?
“I have played soccer since I could walk, but my first official team was when I was four. My parents both played soccer, so they introduced me to it. From there, I just fell in love with the sport and have continued to play.”
Do you have a nickname that your friends or family call you?
“My dad will sometimes call me 17 because that is my jersey number. Otherwise, some people call me Code instead of Cody.”
What’s the best part of the Pines soccer program?
“I think the family aspect is probably the best part. Every sports program calls itself a family, but with us, we truly are. I have created some amazing friendships from this team and have made many memories I’ll never forget.”
Where is your favorite vacation spot?
“My favorite vacation spot would probably be out west in Colorado. My family usually goes for a ski trip every spring and it is just a ton of fun and relaxing. Plus the views are amazing.”
What is your favorite meal?
“My favorite meal to eat would probably be spaghetti. I think it is a great meal and great for the body.”
Will you be looking at playing college soccer? Do you have offers?
“I definitely will be looking to play college soccer or football, depending on where I decide to go. As of right now I do not have any official offers, but I am in contact with multiple different coaches between both sports.”
Do you have other plans for after high school?
“I plan on going to college for accounting and working as either an accountant or something in the financial field.”
