Conover party: Sledding and skating under the lights
SLEDDING PARTY — The Conover Park Committee put on its annual skating and sledding event Dec. 30 to raise funds for park equipment. The evening's temperatures in the mid-teens didn't dampen fun had by kids as they whipped down the snowy sledding hill, illuminated by lights. Chad Lederer of the Conover Sno-Buddies used the club's Sno-Cat to haul excited youths to the top of the hill, and Parks Committee volunteers served hot dogs, cookies and hot chocolate to attendees in the rec center. The lights are lit, and music plays through the speakers wired throughout the park grounds as families take part in a night of sledding and other activities at Conover Town Park's sledding hill. The Conover Park Committee thanked Sweetwater Spirits and Northwoods Surveying for their donations, with proceeds from the event set aside for next year’s party. The committee is also raising funds for a Veterans Memorial to be placed in the park.
