Town officials gathered with representatives of the Great Headwaters Trails Foundation (GHTF) earlier this month to take part in a presentation of $5,000 to the towns of Phelps and Conover.
Each town received $2,500 to support their town’s Conover-Phelps Trail maintenance funds.
GHTF hosts the annual Ride with Leinie fundraiser bicycle ride each July on the Conover-Phelps Trail. This year they welcomed a record 520 participants.
GHTF built the Conover/Phelps trail for the towns in three phases and completed it in 2021.
After the presentation, Van Valkenberg said, “Thank you to the town of Phelps and Conover for the use of the trail for the Ride with Leinie fundraiser bike ride. It was a very successful event.”
