After being postponed due to extreme cold temperatures, the following North Woods winter events have been rescheduled.
The Phelps Snowmobile Club will host the Phelps Radar Run on Saturday, Jan. 31, on North Twin Lake near Great Escape Bar in Phelps. Registration opens at 9 a.m., with races running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on a 1,000-foot groomed snow track. The event includes a heated tent with bar and food sales, bonfires, raffles, music and an MC. Entry fees are $10 for one run or $25 for three runs, with trophies awarded to first- and second-place finishers in each class. A free Costume Fun Run with cash prizes will be held at 3 p.m. Spectators and racers should follow posted signs and social media updates for parking. Great Escape Bar is located at 2510 Highway 17. Also rescheduled is the Chicken Soup “Cluck Off” fundraiser benefiting the Three Lakes–Brule River Trails, which will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Lindy’s Hideaway & Swamp Witch Inn, 290 Wesley Road, in Three Lakes. Participants can sample a variety of homemade chicken soups prepared by local businesses for $8 and vote for their favorite chef, with proceeds supporting trail grooming and maintenance.
