Falcons start new season Nov. 30 at home

Posted

With some teams already playing for nearly a month, the Eagle River Falcons will hit the ice for the first time Nov. 30 to open the 2024-25 season in the Great Lakes Hockey League.

Eagle River will open its season in Eagle River with the newly-founded GLHL team, the Sun Prairie Killer Bees, Saturday, Nov. 30, at 3 p.m.

With three new teams added to the league, and the Marquette Mutineers opting out of the 2024-25 season, the league will play an 18-game season and each team will play each other twice.

After the season opener, the Falcons will play four games in December, including two games at home Saturday, Dec. 14, against the Fond du Lac Bears, and Saturday, Dec. 28, versus the M&M Shamrocks. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Falcons have a slow start to the new year, with only two games in January, with both being at home. The Calumet Wolverines come to town Jan. 11, before the DePere Deacons travel to the North Woods on Jan. 25.

Things ramp up in February, with seven scheduled games and three home games set for Feb. 1, Feb. 7-8, and 28.

Eagle River finishes the regular season with four consecutive road games before hosting the GLHL Tournament at the Historic Eagle River Dome March 27-30, 2025. There will be a two-game play-in for the bottom four teams in the league, with the winners advancing to the nine-team GLHL tournament play.

The Falcons finished fourth in the regular season standings in 2023-24 with a 12-6 record. The team scored 120 goals and gave up 95 in the 18 games. Todd Koritzinsky led Eagle River with 32 goals, which ranked third best in the league, and 52 total points. Lucas Otto followed Koritzinsky with 17 goals.
