Posted

Northland Pines senior soccer player and captain Ryan Rydeski keeps himself busy by playing three sports throughout the school year while also focusing on his other hobbies. When he’s not playing soccer, basketball or running track at Pines, Rydeski enjoys skiing, going on adventures with friends and flying. After high school, he wants to go to school to focus on aviation while also hoping to play soccer as well. Here is more on the Pines senior:

Do you have a nickname that your friends or family call you?
“No nickname, though my friends always call me funny names, but none of them have stuck.”

Do you participate in any other sports?

“I participate in other sports like track and basketball. I play these sports to stay in shape and be close to my friends.”

Do you have a personal goal on the field for this year?
“This year in soccer, my goal is for the team to make it to state. We have a great group of boys, and I want us to win big games together and make it as far as we can in the playoffs. “

What other hobbies do you have outside of sports?
“Other hobbies I have are skiing, playing poker, adventures with friends, traveling, and flying.”

Favorite vacation spot you’ve been to?
“My favorite vacation spot I’ve been to is Slovenia. I have traveled to a lot of places, but Slovenia was by far the most naturally beautiful and wasn’t full of tourists.”

Do you have a pre-game ritual?
“No pre-game ritual; I just eat a lot of carbs before the game and wear my lucky flamingo underwear.”

Do you have any plans for after high school? College?

“I plan to go to school for aviation and hope to play soccer as well. I haven’t chosen a school yet, but I’ll either stay local or go to the south for better flight programs.”
