NPHS one act receives honors at state festival

Posted

The Northland Pines one-act students received the highest honors of critic’s choice, outstanding ensemble, technical theatre, directing and four acting awards at the Wisconsin Interscholastic Speech and Dramatic Arts Association (WISDAA) state festival at Peck School of the Arts on the UW-Milwaukee campus last month.
It was the fourth consecutive year Pines made it to state, with Robin Hood and the Unnecessary Rescue being this year’s production.
The students advanced through regionals in Tomahawk before advancing to state after sectionals at Oconto Falls.
Outstanding acting awards were given to Eliana Conrad, Ike McClelland, Owen Libby and Riley Moore.
“It’s a bittersweet end to the production’s run”, stated Jeffrey Libby, director of the One Act program. “We have ten seniors graduating this year. Of those, Malia Remme, Libby, Conrad, Grace Indermuehle and McClelland have been in every production during their four years of high school. I wish them all the best but will miss their talent, humor and companionship.”
Something Rotten! is the upcoming musical for Northland Pines and is being presented in February. Many students who participated in one act will be in the musical.
