The Phelps softball tournament is set for its 47th running this upcoming weekend at Wavering Park in Phelps. Tournament play is scheduled for Friday through Sunday, July 24-26. Games on Saturday and Sunday kick off at 8:30 a.m.
This year, organizers have 10 teams registered of the 12-team limit. The team from Brew’s Pub, which took home first place in last year’s tournament, will be back to defend its title. Prize money will remain the same with the 10 teams as it would for a full 12-team tournament. First place will receive $1,200 and a team trophy, with second-and-third-placed teams getting $700 and $350, respectively. Fourth place is the last team to be paid out at $150.
The tournament used to raise money for Phelps youth sports, but has switched avenues to give all money raised to support Phelps youth.
