Ride for Peanuts to benefit veterans camp

Posted

The 20th annual Ride for Peanuts, sponsored by District 11 of the American Legion Riders Association of Wisconsin, will be held Saturday, June 13, rain or shine.

The event is open to the public, and participants may take part by motorcycle or any other vehicle. Registration will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at Northwoods Harley-Davidson in Arbor Vitae. The cost is $10 per person.

Proceeds benefit Camp American Legion and help purchase peanuts for campers to feed the chipmunks, while also supporting other veterans programs. The peanuts are supplied each year by Hometown Feed Mill in Tomahawk.

The approximately 81-mile ride includes several stops where participants will have their ride sheets stamped. The route begins at Northwoods Harley-Davidson and includes stops at the Veterans Resource Center in Eagle River, Cross Country Bar & Grill in Rhinelander, either Lake Tom Tap House or Shamrock Pub & Eatery in Lake Tomahawk, and Camp American Legion in Lake Tomahawk.

The ride concludes at 5 p.m. at The Ten Point Bar in Harshaw. Completed ride sheets must be turned in by 5 p.m. to be eligible for prizes. Raffles and door prizes will begin at 5 p.m.

Camp American Legion provides free recreational opportunities for veterans and their families. Organizers invite community members to participate in the ride and support the camp’s mission. For more information, contact Jim Sprague at 715-277-4938.
