The Roots and Shoots Northwoods Garden Club (formerly the Vilas County Master Gardeners) will host its seventh annual Garden Tour on Saturday, July 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Eagle River area, rain or shine.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at any of the featured gardens; children 17 and under are free. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit several local garden projects.
Guests will have the opportunity to tour six private gardens featuring a wide variety of plantings, including native species, perennials, annuals, vegetables, herbs, berries, fruit trees, and garden art.
Brochures with maps are available at the Eagle River Farmers Market on Wednesdays and Sundays, at area garden centers, and at the Eagle River Chamber of Commerce, 201 N. Railroad St.
The Master Gardener Program is an all-volunteer initiative sponsored by the University of Wisconsin–Extension. Master Gardeners are trained volunteers who support Extension staff by helping community members better understand horticulture and the environment.
The club meets the second Thursday of each month at 1 p.m. at the Walter E. Olson Memorial Library in Eagle River. During the summer, meetings may take place at topic-specific locations such as gardens, greenhouses, or orchards. Gardeners of all skill levels are welcome.
