Tanner Maines, Northland Pines football

The Senior Spotlight series will highlight the senior athletes in the area around the surrounding school districts. This week, the spotlight is on Northland Pines football player Tanner Maines who plays running back and linebacker for the Eagles. He is a multi-sport athlete who plays football in the fall and baseball in the spring. Here is more on the Pines senior. 

Do you have a nickname that your family and friends call you?

“A lot of my friends call me Tmaines. It kind of just sprung upon me and stayed there.” 

 What other sports do you play besides football?

“Outside of football I also play baseball. I couldn’t pick between them; I love them both. I also enjoy what they have to offer, especially the family aspect of each of them.”

What was your goal for the football season? Did you meet it?

“My goal for the season was to be the best player I could be and set an example of a hard worker. I feel like I have met that and set a great example for my team.”

Is there something that makes Northland Pines athletics better than other schools?

“Northland Pines sets itself apart from the rest with the bond it makes between the players. Every sport has its own family that goes through thick and thin together.”

Where is your go-to restaurant in the area?

“My go-to restaurant would be the Craftsman. I like it because of the atmosphere and the games in the back.”

What NFL player would you want to meet the most?

“I would want to meet Jordy Nelson. He was the guy I grew up watching and I looked forward to watching him play every week.”

What are your plans after high school?

“After school is over I plan on pursuing a degree in business.”
