Chassell, Mich., runner Kalvin Kytta broke the 5k course record with a time of 15:46.4, which beat out the previous record of 16:25.4 held by high school runner Nolan Waltz of Three Lakes.

The first Eagle River finisher in the half marathon was Jeffrey Janssen with a finishing time of 1:48:45.

In the 5k race, local high school runner and Three Lakes standout Nolan Waltz finished in second place behind the record-breaking time of Kytta. Waltz finished with a time of 15:59.4, which was over two minutes ahead of the third-place finisher. Ethan Potrykus, another Three Lakes High School runner, took fourth place overall and second in the 13-19 men’s age range, with a time of 18:14. Cohen Welsh, Charlie Welsh and Matthew Potrykus all finished at the back end of the top ten, finishing seventh through ninth with times under 21 minutes.

In the women’s division, Kelly Julian of Middleton ran a tight race with second-place finisher Althea Hewitt of Wauwatosa in the half marathon as she ended less than one minute ahead with a time of 1:27:38.9.
