The YMCA of the Northwoods is hosting a “Tree of Warmth,” a program kickstarted to help bring winter clothing to local children in need.
The tree of warmth starts off bare, but the community is invited to decorate the tree with mittens, gloves, scarves, hats, earmuffs, boots, jackets and snow pants.
The YMCA asks that all items donated be in new or gently used condition.
Handmade knitted or crocheted mittens, gloves, scarves and hats are also welcome.
All items can be dropped off at the YMCA of the Northwoods at 2003 E. Winnebago St. in Rhinelander as the tree is located in the lobby of the YMCA.
Community members can decorate the tree of warmth with their donations or drop them off at the Welcome Center. Donations will be accepted until Friday, Dec. 20. Items will then be donated to local community schools in the Rhinelander area, Warm for Winter, and the Tri-County Council.
