Candidate forum set May 14 for 7th Congressional District

Posted

The Republican Party of Vilas County is hosting a candidate forum for those running for the 7th Congressional District later this month.

Citizens from Vilas and surrounding counties are invited Thursday, May 14, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to the Northland Pines High School auditorium to hear candidates respond to questions, learn their positions and how they will govern if elected to the U.S. Congress.

Tom Tiffany, current U.S. representative for Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District in northern Wisconsin, is not seeking re-election, but is a candidate for Wisconsin’s Republican governor in the November 2026 election.

Running for his seat in the 7th District are Michael Alfonso, Jessi Ebben, Kevin Hermening and Niina Threlfall-Baum. Ebben, Hermening and Baum have confirmed their attendance at the forum. Alfonso has been invited but has not confirmed.

The forum will be held in the auditorium at the Northland Pines High School, located at 1800 Pleasure Island Road in Eagle River. The Northland Pines School District is neither the sponsor nor the host of this event on public school property; it merely provides the space for the event to be held.

Attendees are reminded that no food or drink is allowed in the auditorium.
Wisconsin’s primary for state and federal candidates will be Aug. 11 for citizens to select their candidate for the November general election. Each Congressional district represents more than 700,000 citizens.
