A resolution was passed by the council acknowledging its appreciation to Jerry Burkett for his nearly 30 years of service on the Eagle River City Council during the Aug. 18 meeting.
Burkett resigned from his position July 23 due to personal reasons.
The resolution highlighted Burkett’s “unwavering commitment to the City of Eagle River and its residents” from 1997, when he was first elected, to his 2026 end date.
“Jerry’s extensive knowledge and understanding of real estate, property, and development have provided valuable insight to the common council and have contributed meaningfully to the city’s consideration of complex issues affecting its future,” the resolution states, adding that he has “consistently brought unique ideas and thoughtful perspectives to the council, often approaching challenges from a different angle and offering practical solutions to issues facing the city.”
The resolution went on to state that “Jerry’s contributions will remain a part of the city’s history and continued progress,” before wishing him “continued success and fulfillment following his retirement from the common council.”
