Trial set for St. Germain man in intentional homicide case

James Johnson, 57, of St. Germain, appeared in custody from Vilas County Jail last week for a judicial pretrial for one felony charge of first-degree intentional homicide. A jury trial was put on the calendar for next year and will be scheduled to run from Feb. 7-9, 2027. A final pretrial was scheduled for Dec. 15 at 10 a.m.

Jonelle Allen, 34, of Lac du Flambeau, arraignment hearing on April 9 at 3:30. Felony charge of possession of methamphetamine. Another case of felony possession of methamphetamine and bail jumping.

Ivan Scharbrough, 46, of Tomahawk, appeared for a sentencing hearing on one felony charge of interfering with custody, beyond visitation. Judge Martha Milanowski imposed and stayed a sentence of two years of confinement and two years of extended supervision for three years of probation with conditions. Conditions include 90 days of conditional jail, a mental assessment/follow-through, maintaining absolute sobriety, participating in cognitive behavior treatment, gainful employment, and adhering to family court orders. There were $518 in court costs and $1,286.91 in restitution, plus applicable surcharges. Ordered to also pay $6,200 in extradition airfare/car rental for out-of-state witness, totaling $1,662.74. There were 202 days of credit in the case. The offense took place on Nov. 3, 2024.

Alesha Swanson, 34, of Fairchild, appeared for a motion to modify her jail sentence of 12 months of conditional jail. She was found guilty of one felony charge of theft in a business setting >$100,000 and one felony charge of fraudulent writings after pleading guilty to both counts back in January. Judge Martha Milanowski denied the motion to modify the sentence.

Sean Christensen, 35, of Lac du Flambeau, pleaded guilty to one felony charge of attempt to take and drive a vehicle without consent and also pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor. Judge Martha Milanowski stayed a nine-month sentence in Vilas Jail for two years of probation with conditions for both counts. There were two days of presentence credit in the case of revocation. The offenses took place on Oct. 20, 2024.
