Stevens Point man to serve jail time for felony drug charge

Anthony Ross, 53, of Stevens Point, appeared for a sentencing hearing on one felony charge of possession with intent-amphetamine/methamphetamine. He pleaded guilty to the charge back on March 17. Judge Daniel Overbey denied a motion by the defense to have another presentence investigation done. Judge Overbey then sentenced Ross to a year and a half of confinement and three and a half years of extended supervision. There were $518 of court costs, payable to the Department of Corrections. There were 98 days of presentence credit. The offense occurred on Aug. 6, 2025.

Brett La Barge, 42, of Lac du Flambeau, waived a preliminary hearing on one felony charge of attempted first-degree intentional homicide last week while in custody from Vilas County Jail. Judge Daniel Overbey found probable cause, and the case was bound over for trial. La Barge is being held in Vilas County Jail on a $300,000 cash bond. The alleged offense occurred on Dec. 13, 2025.

Logan Meier, 29, of Wausau, pleaded not guilty to one felony count of strangulation and suffocation with a domestic abuse modifier, along with a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge. The defense requested a jury trial, which was scheduled for Oct. 19-20, 2026. A final pretrial will be on Sept. 9.

Michael Allen, 47, of Lac du Flambeau, pleaded guilty to one felony charge of taking a vehicle without consent, one possession of a firearm, convicted of a felony, one felony bail-jumping charge and one other misdemeanor at a plea hearing in multiple cases last week. A sentencing hearing was scheduled for July 20 at 1:30 p.m.

Justin Taddey, 41, of Eagle River, failed to appear for a hearing on his felony charge of contractor theft, >$10,000- $100,000. A bench warrant that was already issued by Judge Martha Milanowski was now modified to be nationwide. This stems back to a missed court date for his final pretrial back in early April.
