Flambeau woman placed on probation for child neglect conviction

Audrey Jackson, 36, of Lac du Flambeau, appeared for a sentencing hearing on one felony charge of child neglect (no harm and child is under six years old) last week in Vilas County Circuit Court. Judge Martha Milanowski stayed a nine-month sentence in Vilas Jail for three years of probation with conditions. One probation condition is 60 days of conditional jail. There were two days of presentence credit. The offense took place on Sept. 4, 2024.

Karina Mendoza, 38, of Eagle River, had her cash bond adjusted down from $7,500 to $4,000, with the same conditions. She also waived her preliminary hearing on one felony bail-jumping charge and one other misdemeanor. A status hearing was scheduled for Nov. 9.
