The Eagle River Revitalization Program (ERRP) announced last week it has appointed Jo Ann Simons as its new executive director.
Simons brings with her a long list of qualifications along with enthusiasm to begin her new role on Nov. 3.
ERRP Board President Danielle Mazur said the board is looking forward to growing under her leadership.
“Jo Ann is a seasoned event strategist and community leader whose dynamic career spans over two decades of excellence in event planning, fundraising, and organizational leadership. We look forward to growing our program even further under Jo Ann’s leadership.”
According to Mazur, Simons has consistently demonstrated her ability to bring ideas to life through innovative programming and meticulous execution. Most recently, she served as manager of special events at The Paine Art Center and Gardens in Oshkosh, where she orchestrated high-profile events such as Nutcracker in the Castle, biannual galas, and Jazz in the Garden.
Her leadership generated more than $500,000 in seasonal revenue, showcasing her ability to blend artistic vision with financial impact.
Her career includes pivotal roles at The Milwaukee Convention Center, The American Club, Fox Valley Technical College, and the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), where she managed logistics for AirVenture, the world’s largest aviation event.
Her tenure at EAA earned her high praise for her creativity, relationship management, and ability to lead volunteer teams with professionalism and enthusiasm.
Elissa Lines, vice president of donor and business relations at EAA, commended Jo Simons’ dedication, stating, “Jo Ann gave everything she did her full attention. Volunteers, donors, and event participants alike enjoyed working with her and trusted her follow-through. She always brought fun, cost-saving ideas to the table without compromising the success, look, or feel of the event.”
Simons said she is excited to officially begin her role as executive director for ERRP on Monday, Nov. 3. “I have a deep affection for Eagle River and am eager to contribute to its continued growth and success. It’s truly exciting to know I will play an active role in this journey,” she said.
Simons plans to hit the ground running, with initial goals already in place to engage with downtown business owners and managers in order to understand their perspectives. “Additionally, I will meet with board members for an orientation to align on their expectation for the near future. I will also take a look at existing grants to ensure that all immediate requirements are being met,” she said.
Simons holds a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership and Quality from Marian University and a Bachelor’s in Broadcast Journalism and Public Relations from UW–Madison.
Her skills include contract negotiation, fundraising, grant writing, public speaking, and team leadership. “With her proven track record and passion for community engagement, Simons is poised to be a transformative force in economic revitalization initiatives across Vilas County and beyond,” Mazur said.
