Lincoln voters pass levy increase

Posted

Sixteen voters and the town board in attendance at the Town of Lincoln budget hearing Dec. 1 passed the 2026 budget as presented with no changes.

The town’s property tax levy increased by 7.81% to $1.36 million to be paid in 2026 — an increase of $98,400 over last year’s levy.

Total expenditures for 2026 are $2,196,719 million — a $337,629 increase over the 2025 budget of $1,859,090.

Total revenues will increase only slightly (by about $18,000) which is not enough to cover the overall spending increase. The 2025 levy includes a $633,000 adjustment for the Board of Commissioner for Public Lands State Trust Fund Loans.

The News-Review apologizes for an error in its recent story announcing the budget hearing. The article incorrectly stated that salary increases for town officials would be discussed as part of the budget talks. In fact, the town officials’ salaries were merely approved, not increased.
