Michael Roy Lifschutz, age 84, of Eagle River, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 23, 2024, after a brief illness. During his last weeks, Mike was surrounded by loving family and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Leo Lifschutz and mother, Leah Claire Lifschutz (nee Levin), of Racine, Wisconsin.

He is survived by daughter, Lisa (James) Sage of Rhinelander; sons, Joshua of Eagle River, Joel (Lana) of Las Vegas, and Aaron (Jen) of Eagle River; their mother, Karen Knoell of Rhinelander; and grandchildren Abel, Aiden, Kaitlin, Cole, Lily Lifschutz and Gabrielle Sage.

'Mr. Mike' lived and worked in Eagle River for many years and was well loved by his community of neighbors and friends. As manager of DeByle’s Clothing Store, over the years he became well known for assisting many customers in the fitting of formal wear for proms, weddings, and other occasions.

Michael was an avid and lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, and in his retirement enjoyed long daily rides on his Victory 106 motorcycle while serving as a wandering, whistling, walking-stick-wielding backbone of his Paradise Point community.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the incredible care team at HYMC in Woodruff for their help with dad during his month-long hospital stay, and a very special thank you to Compassus Hospice staff for assisting us in making his last week at home comfortable and peaceful. We appreciate you all so much.

Michael’s favorite place on earth was Lake Superior, and his funeral was held in Duluth on Oct. 27, 2024. The family is planning a celebration of life next summer in Eagle River for the many people who cared about Mike. He will be very missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to WXPR Public Radio, Compassus Home Health/Hospice, or your favorite charity.
