Nominations open now for first responders

Posted

Nominations are now being accepted for the annual First Responder of the Year award.

Each year, members of the State Assembly recognize a responder from their district. Locally, Rep. Rob Swearingen is accepting nominations for responders from District 34, which comprises much of the North Woods area.

This year’s ceremony will be held in the Assembly Chambers Oct. 14 where first responders from across Wisconsin will be honored.

The term “first responder” includes a wide range of dedicated professionals — police officers, sheriff’s deputies, firefighters (both paid and volunteer), and EMS personnel such as paramedics, EMTs, and volunteer first responders.

Nominations can be based on many factors, such as: a specific act of heroism; notable professional accomplishment; outstanding service to the community; a record of excellence built over time; and/or length of service.

To nominate a first responder from the area, contact Swearingen’s office at 608-266-7141 or by email at rep.swearingen@legis.wisconsin.gov.
