Packers completely dismantle the Lions

Posted

The Green Bay Packers opened the new NFL season with a dominant 27-13 win over the visiting Detroit Lions last Sunday.
It really wasn’t a question of whether Green Bay was going to win, as they dictated the game on both sides of the ball from the first snap. Jordan Love drove the team down the field and found Tucker Kraft for a 15-yard touchdown to open the scoring. Love finished the day 16-22 passing, 188 yards and two touchdown passes.
Love later found Jayden Reed on a touch pass in the second quarter for his last touchdown of the game.
It was also the first appearance of Micah Parsons in live action in the Green and Gold. He didn’t play all the snaps, but he made his presence known, along with the rest of the defense.
Detroit running back Jahmyr Gibbs had roughly 2,000 scrimmage yards last year, and Green Bay’s defense held the duo of Gibbs and David Montgomery to 46 yards rushing on the afternoon. The defensive line controlled the line of scrimmage all game long, with Lukas Van Ness and Parsons leading the team in quarterback pressures. Van Ness led the unit with four pressures and Parsons had three. His three pressures resulted in negative play on a pass play, an interception and his sack late in the game. He played 45% of the defensive snaps on the day.
It was one heck of a way to start the season for the Packers. The sky is the limit for this team, and I know it’s early, but this could be the year. The team has a short week as they welcome Washington to town this Thursday and look to start 2-0 on the season.

Green Bay Packers, win, dominant, Micah Parsons, Jordan Love
