Seventh district candidate makes stop in Eagle River

Jessi Ebben, a hopeful for Wisconsin’s 7th U.S. Congressional seat in the November 2026 election, spoke to a group of interested citizens earlier this month at Eagle River’s Mud Creek Saloon.

Ebben currently serves as a senior executive for a Wisconsin manufacturing company.

After providing an introduction, she opened the floor to questions from attendees on subjects important to them.

According to Shirley Kufeldt, secretary for the Republican Party of Vilas County who attended the meeting, topics included delisting the grey wolf from federal protections and “woke policies indoctrinating America’s children in public schools.”

Ebben stated she believes in civic education in public schools, adding that the Constitution and Bill of Rights should be taught throughout a student’s public education years.

She also discussed health care and Affordable Care Act regulations, which are the main drivers of the current government shutdown, saying price, transparency and medical malpractice reform are major factors driving up health care costs for Medicaid and Medicare.

Ebben further expressed interest in two House committees — Natural Resources and Energy and Commerce. She noted that she is familiar with the consequences of government interference and overregulation in her current capacity working for a Wisconsin manufacturer. Ebben added that she knows first-hand that federal regulations stifle innovation and add costs to every facet of the economy, which is ultimately paid for by American consumers.

Regarding energy, Ebben believes America needs reliable energy, saying it typically takes seven years for an energy enterprise to get up and running. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, directed by Secretary Lee Zeldin, is working to reform the permitting process.

Ebben is hoping to fill the seat currently held by Rep. Tom Tiffany, who is running for governor of Wisconsin next November.
