I was born in Milwaukee on March 4, 1956. (¾ 56) My childhood was spent in a wonderful neighborhood in the suburb of Greenfield. Our large yard gave me room to play Football and Baseball, climb trees and raid the garden for lunch. This neighborhood was also full of children who would remain lifelong friends.
My father was a man ahead of his time. Who taught his daughter the sport of fishing, hunting, football, gardening and Puzzles.
After attending St James Parochial School, Greenfield Middle School and High School. I was at a crossroads. I knew I didn’t want to waste money going to college. When a great opportunity came my way to get paid for going to school. So, I started my lifelong work in Radiology and Radiation Oncology.
I was part of the first graduation class of St Joseph’s School of Radiation Oncology. After Graduation I moved to Green Bay where I was the first Registered Therapist in the area. After working at St. Vincent Hospital, I was given the opportunity to start the first Radiation Oncology Department in Rhinelander. I also started the current Radiation Oncology Department at the Marshfield Clinic in Minocqua. I retired from Radiation Oncology in 2018. After nearly 45 years of healthcare experience.
But work was only part of my story. In 1977 I met my soulmate Michael Stachewicz. Our blind date turned into a lifetime of love and respect. We had many homes from our first fixer upper to our current paradise in Eagle River. Dad called us gypsy’s and I guess he was right. We also traveled to all 49 states and all the provinces of Canada. Mike was another man ahead of his time and wanted to take his wife with him on fishing and hunting trips.
Mike opened my world to things I only dreamed of as a child. I was able to hunt for Brown Bear and fish for Halibut and Artic Grayling in Alaska. I hunted with Eskimos in the territory of Nunavut in Canada. Wherever we were hunting or fishing we were together, and the adventures were priceless.
During our 40 some years of marriage we always had eight fur puppies who kept me happy and grounded. Mindy, Scarlett, Jake, Hudson, Moxie, Casey, Buck and Jackson. You’re always the best and I hope to see you on the other side.
I would like to thank many friends who kept up my spirits over the past 2 years. Your cards, letters and calls mean more than you can imagine.
A private funeral will be held. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a local blood bank.
I have had a wonderful life, and I can say I did it my way.
