Stoskopf family donates memorial funds to ERRA

Posted

Jack Stoskopf Jr., as part of the Stoskopf family, recently presented a check for $1,320 to the Eagle River Recreational Association (ERRA) to be used to support the cost of the new ice plant.

The money comes from the memorial funds from their father, Jack Stoskopf Sr., who passed away this past April.

Stoskopf Sr. was a long-time Eagle River resident, teacher and hockey coach who passed away at age 90.

The family held his funeral service July 8 in Eagle River and was overwhelmed with the support and the number of people who came to show their support.

“We were amazed at the number of people that dad had some sort of connection to while living in Eagle River. Former teachers, students, hockey players, friends…it was amazing,” said his daughter, Nancy Brill. “If we were to ask dad today where he wanted his memorial funds to be donated, the first thing he would say is the ERRA,” according to his son Mike Stoskopf.

Hockey has always been in the family’s blood. Stoskopf Sr played at the University of North Dakota and coached for decades locally at the youth and high school levels.

Sons Mike and Jeff both played college hockey at UW-Stevens Point and Mike and Jack Jr have 48 combined years of coaching in Stevens Point and Hudson, where both collected state championships.

Any other money contributed to the fund will go directly to the ERRA.
