The Sno-Eagles Snowmobile Club recently conducted a Wisconsin DNR Snowmobile Safety Education Class, helping a new group of riders gain the knowledge and skills needed to enjoy Wisconsin’s snowmobile trails safely and responsibly.
DNR-certified snowmobile instructors Carole Linn, Chris Fuller, and Scott Fruhwirth led the course, providing comprehensive instruction on the fundamentals of safe snowmobiling. Tim Price, DNR conservation warden, joined the class to explain Wisconsin snowmobile laws and regulations and answer students’ questions.
Students received instruction on snowmobile parts and functions, the importance of protective gear, environmental stewardship, respectful and courteous riding practices, proper riding positions, responsible operation, group riding techniques, trail etiquette, emergency situations and survival skills, ice safety, and how to safely respond when encountering a trail groomer.
A highlight of the class was the hands-on learning experience using a snowmobile generously donated for training purposes by Boat Sport Marina. This practical session allowed students to become familiar with the machine’s controls and components.
The class also enjoyed a pizza lunch made possible through the generous support of Buckshot’s Saloon and Eatery, Sweetwater Spirits and Resort, Eagle Lanes, and JJ’s House of Dogs. Beverages were provided by Kwik Trip.
The Sno-Eagles report that all students successfully completed the course and earned their Wisconsin Snowmobile Safety Certificate.
A Sno-Eagles spokesperson expressed sincere appreciation to the businesses that donated the sled, food and beverages for the program. “Community partnerships like these help ensure the next generation of snowmobilers is educated, prepared, and committed to safe and responsible riding on Wisconsin’s trails,” the spokesperson said.
