Lawrence Thompson, 39, of Lac du Flambeau, pleaded guilty to three drug-related felony charges and one felony bail-jumping charge at a plea/sentencing hearing last week. Thompson was sentenced to 12 years in the WPS with five years of confinement and seven years of extended supervision on one felony charge of possession with intent of amphetamines/methamphetamine. All other charges will run concurrently to this, being sentenced to one, three and four years of confinement for the other three felonies. There were 602 days of presentence credit. He was also sentenced to 60 days in Vilas Jail for another bail-jumping felony, along with four other misdemeanors being dismissed but read into the record for sentencing.
Shantel Turney, 30, of Woodruff, was sentenced to three years of probation last week on one felony charge of possession of methamphetamine. Judge Daniel Overbey stayed a sentence of 1.5 years of confinement and two years of extended supervision for the probation period. Conditions include AODA assessment/follow through, mental health assessment/follow through, parenting class, gainful employment at the agent’s discretion and other programming deemed appropriate by the agent. There was also $518 in court costs to be paid to the Clerk of Courts’ office. There were 167 days of presentence credit in the case of revocation. She was also sentenced to nine months in Vilas jail for another drug-related felony charge. There were 230 days of presentence credit along with that case.
Jesse Armstrong, 26, of Lac du Flambeau, pleaded guilty to one felony charge of first-degree reckless homicide/deliver drugs last week at a plea hearing. Judge Daniel Overbey found Armstrong to be guilty and ordered a presentence investigation. Armstrong was remanded to Vilas Jail before his sentencing hearing scheduled for Aug. 6 at 2 p.m.
